FERTAN rust converter has been a proven product for the removal of corrosion for more than three decades. Unlike products that merely cover rust, FERTAN chemically dissolves the rust layer and breaks it down into an inert powder. At the same time, according to the manufacturer, an iron-tannin compound (black-blue-violet) forms on the underlying metal, protecting against new rust.

Thanks to its enormous creeping ability, it penetrates even under old layers of paint. The treated metal can remain protected for up to 6 months before the final coat is applied.

Scope of delivery

• 1 × FERTAN rust converter (quantity and container type depending on selection)

Application note

Remove loose rust roughly. The substrate must be free of oil, grease and silicone. Apply FERTAN with a brush, roller or gun. Use only above 5 °C.
Reaction time: 24 h at over 20 °C, approx. 48 h at 5 to 19 °C. In dry air, lightly moisten with a water mist after 1–2 h.
IMPORTANT: After the reaction time (when the surface is black-violet), the resulting black dust must be washed off with water before priming/painting!
