EPS Eternal Fix IMS Bearing Upgrade | Porsche 986/987 Boxster, 996 & 997.1 (1997–2008)

The EPS Eternal Fix is an upgrade for the intermediate shaft bearing (IMS bearing) of the M96 engines and the early M97.01 engines and is intended to prevent IMS-related engine damage. Instead of a ball bearing, EPS uses a patented cylindrical roller bearing with axial force distribution: the rollers absorb radial forces only, while the axial forces are supported across the entire circumference of the outer ring. According to EPS, this gives the bearing a considerably higher load capacity than conventional ball bearing retrofit solutions, and it is designed for the entire service life of the engine.

Note: On the 997 with 3.8 engine, be sure to check the engine number before ordering. We recommend also replacing the gasket and the rear crankshaft oil seal together with its housing during installation.
