Interior Detailing – Proper Care for Upholstery, Leather & Plastic

A clean interior not only makes you feel good, but also helps preserve the value of the vehicle — especially for a classic whose interior trim can no longer be easily reordered. With the right product for each surface and the appropriate accessories, you can achieve professional-level care for upholstery, leather, and plastics.

The order is important: first clean, then care, then protect. Applying care products to dirty surfaces seals in the dirt.

1. Upholstery & Textiles

Product: THE FINISHER LeatherTexClean

• Application Area: Fabric upholstery, carpets, headliners, belts — and also leather surfaces
• Properties: Cleaner for leather and textile in one, lifts dirt from the fibers
• Procedure: apply sparingly, allow to soak in briefly, absorb with an absorbent cloth — do not saturate, otherwise edges may appear
• Accessories: Allrounder Microfiber Towel for removal, Allround Microfiber Sponge for working in

Spot stains — ballpoint pen, adhesive residue, chewing gum — are a separate case: for these, there is Koch Chemie Eulex or Eulex M. Always test in an inconspicuous area first.

2. Leather – Clean and Keep Supple

Product: LeatherTexClean

• Cleaning: work gently in circular motions, no brushes with hard bristles on smooth leather
• Sensitive Areas: side bolsters and entry sills first, that's where most of the abrasion occurs
• Accessories: Applicator Sponge for even distribution, soft Tornado Microfiber Towel for buffing

A note on our own behalf: We currently do not carry a pure leather care product — i.e., a re-greasing cream after cleaning. If you are looking for one, let us know; we can procure such a product upon request.

3. Interior Plastics – Clean, Care & Protect

Products: Koch Chemie Top Star and THE FINISHER InsideCare

• Application Area: Dashboard, trim panels, plastic and rubber parts
• Top Star: cleans and cares in one step, with UV protection and a satin-matte finish — no high gloss that blinds in sunlight
• InsideCare: Interior care for plastic surfaces, also dries to a matte finish
• Accessories: Applicator Sponge Plastic Care for even application, Microfiber Towel for buffing

For shoe scuffs on door sills or kick plates, the Dirt Eraser helps, and for larger areas, the Allrounder Dirt Eraser.

4. Windows and Displays

Interior windows fog up from off-gassing plastics and are often forgotten. For this, there is THE FINISHER ClearView. Central displays and instruments cannot tolerate harsh glass cleaner — DisplayExpert is the product to use there.

5. Stubborn Dirt and Odors

Products: Green Star (highly diluted) and Allround Surface Cleaner

• Application Area: Door sills, rubber mats, robust plastics
• Properties: powerful all-purpose cleaner — always use diluted in the interior and test in an inconspicuous area beforehand
• Odors: Fresh Up addresses the cause instead of just masking it

6. Protection – To Make the Work Last

Freshly cleaned textiles re-absorb dirt particularly quickly. The Allround Textile Sealant seals fabric upholstery and carpets. For convertible owners, the Convertible Top Sealant is part of the same process.

Good interior detailing follows the same logic as paint detailing: clean, care, protect — in that order, with the appropriate product for each surface. The difference from paintwork is that mistakes in the interior are harder to correct: a faded dashboard or a saturated headliner cannot be polished out.
