Rust must go – Long-term protection for your classic car with the FERTAN system

1. Step 1: Rust Conversion & Removal

Before protection can be applied, existing rust must be rendered harmless. Simply painting over it is not enough.

The Classic – FERTAN Rust Converter: This product is legendary. It chemically converts rust into a stable zinc-iron layer and protects the metal from new corrosion for up to 6 months – even if you don't paint immediately.
For Vertical Surfaces – FeDOGEL: Rust removal on vertical panels is often difficult because liquid products run off. FeDOGEL adheres as a gel, reliably dissolves rust and tarnish, and can be easily washed off with water.
For Tanks & Small Parts – FeDOX: A rusted tank is the death of any carburetor. With the FeDOX Rust Remover Concentrate, steel tanks and small parts can be de-rusted to bare metal in an immersion bath.

2. Step 2: Reconstruction (Priming)

Once the rust is gone, the bare metal needs immediate protection. No experiments should be made here.

FERPOX 1-K Epoxy Primer: Many shy away from 2-component paints due to the effort involved. The FERPOX 1-K Epoxy Primer (available in black and basalt grey) offers the resistance of a 2-K epoxy, but is as easy to apply as a regular spray paint. It is temperature-stable, overpaintable, and ideal for axle parts, underbodies, or wheel arches.

3. Step 3: Sealing for Eternity (Cavity & Underbody)

Rust often develops where you can't see it: in the sills and on the underbody.

Creepage is everything – PREWAX: Before the final protection, we use PREWAX Pre-treatment Wax. It has extreme creeping properties, penetrates deep into folds and welds, and perfectly prepares the substrate.
The Cavity Protector: FERTAN Cavity Protection Wax permanently seals sills and beams. It remains elastic, does not crack, and prevents new rust formation from the inside out.
Underbody Protection (UBS 240): Bitumen was yesterday (it becomes brittle and rusts underneath). The FERTAN UBS 240 Wax remains elastic, compensates for body twisting, and offers robust long-term protection against road salt and stone chips.

4. Special Solutions for Patina and Optics

Not everyone wants to completely repaint their classic car. Sometimes, the original look should be preserved.

Transparent Protection – PROTEWAX: If you want to protect patina, bare metal, or aluminum without changing the appearance, use PROTEWAX. This transparent protective coating prevents aluminum parts from tarnishing and preserves the "used look" without yellowing.
MM 30 Multi-Metal: An aluminum-titanium-zinc coating for visually demanding cathodic corrosion protection on exhaust systems or rims.
