Track Rod End. The rack controls the front wheels via two track rods, which are attached to the swivel hubs by replaceable joints – the "Track Rod Ends". These will wear out over time, leading to steering and handling problems and are a common MOT failure in the UK and presumably in other countries' statutory inspections.
