Tie Rod Inner Joint Kit with Boot. Set of 2. The rack and pinion steering controls the front wheels via two tie rods that end in replaceable joints, the "tie rod ends," which are attached to the steering knuckles. These wear out over time, leading to steering and handling problems, and are also a failure point in the UK MOT inspection and presumably in statutory inspections in other countries.
