Description
The flywheel performs several key functions in the Porsche 911: It stores rotational energy to smooth engine vibrations, serves as a friction surface for the clutch disc, and, in Motronic models, transmits crankshaft signals to the engine control unit (DME) via integrated trigger teeth. Precise manufacturing and perfect balancing are therefore essential.
Over the years, many flywheels are subject to wear – typical damage includes heat cracks, worn friction surfaces, warping, abrasion on the trigger teeth, or loss of rotational balance. This leads to clutch problems, chattering, slippage, vibrations, or faulty DME signals.
This flywheel restores the full functionality of the clutch system and Motronic signaling and is ideal for engine overhauls, clutch replacements or the restoration of 3.2 Carrera models from the years 1984–1986.
