Pulse/speed reference sensor – Porsche 964 / 993 / 996 Turbo
Pulse/speed reference sensor – Porsche 964 / 993 / 996 Turbo
Pulse/speed reference sensor for various Porsche models. The sensor provides essential speed information for the engine electronics and is frequently the cause of starting or running problems.
Details at a glance
- Precise pulse generator for speed and velocity reference
- Replaces defective or faulty original sensors
- Essential for motor control and feedback regulation
- Depending on the vehicle control system, it can function as a crankshaft or camshaft sensor.
- Porsche update notice: An adapter kit is required for vehicles with a modernized connector.
Description
The pulse/speed reference sensor provides the engine electronics with crucial information about the speed and position of the rotating components. A defective sensor can cause symptoms such as rough idling, starting problems, misfires, or complete engine stalling. This sensor replaces the respective OE sensor in Porsche 964, 993, and 996 Turbo vehicles and restores correct signal acquisition for the engine management system.
Depending on the engine control unit (ECU) system, the pulse generator can be used as a crankshaft or camshaft sensor . From model year 1996 onwards, Porsche equipped knock sensors, temperature sensors, and speed sensors with improved connectors. If the earlier version in your vehicle was replaced or modified, an adapter kit for the connector may be required.
