Brake Pad Wear Sensor The wiring harness for the brake pad wear sensors serves as an electrical connection between each individual brake pad wear sensor and the vehicle's signal/monitoring electronics (ABS/control unit). As soon as the brake pads reach a certain degree of wear, the sensor closes an electrical circuit, which activates a warning light on the dashboard and alerts the driver that a brake pad change is due.
