This often results in sticky fan/temperature controls that sometimes become unresponsive. With the 2020+ 992 911 interior update, some cars feature a cupholder in the center console where all previous 911s and current Caymans have a small ashtray or storage compartment. This is a custom-made cupholder that mimics the 992's position to offer additional convenience.
