The entry into the transaxle era.
In 1976 the Porsche 924 opened the transaxle line: front engine, rear-mounted gearbox, balanced weight distribution. Up to 1988 it was built in four-cylinder form, from the base model through the Turbo to the 924 S with the 944 engine.
